Preview: ProWein 2026
This year’s ProWein trade show will have a heightened focus on low-and-no ‘spirits’, alongside talks addressing pressing industry issues and a celebrity tasting to boot.

For more than three decades, ProWein has been welcoming wine and spirits industry professionals to Düsseldorf, Germany, for its annual trade show.
The 32nd edition of ProWein will return to the German city from 15 to 17 March, with several new experiences and enhanced services for the industry. But more importantly, the spirits section of the fair has become a major part of the three‐day event with more than 500 exhibitors from categories such as American whiskey, gin, mezcal, and baijiu.
The spirits segment of the show will occupy two halls (5 and 7) under the ProSpirits banner, where exhibitors from 50 countries are expected.
For the first time, no‐ and low‐alcohol ‘spirits’ will also be put in the spotlight at the ProWein Zero Tasting Bar. This bar showcases how the category has evolved, with the latest products on offer for visitors to sample.
At the centre of the fair is the new Agora Stage in Hall 6, which will host more than 20 hours of keynotes and discussions on innovation, market trends and societal topics. This year will also see a significant evolution in the visitor experience. A new hall concept in Halls 1‐7 reduces walking distances by approximately 30%, while introducing clearer structures and improved exhibitor visibility. A Hosted Buyers and Concierge programme will also aim to support and attract top international buyers with tailored serves.
Beyond the exhibition halls, ProWein City Vibes once again extends the trade fair experience into the centre of Düsseldorf, celebrating wine, spirits, and gastronomy throughout Düsseldorf, and creating additional networking opportunities in a more informal setting.

Marius Berlemann, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, says: “A strong city concept has long been the ideal complement to the internationally renowned ProWein as a pure B2B [business‐to‐business] trade fair. During the day, professional exchange takes centre stage in our exhibition halls. In the evening, ProWein City Vibes builds a bridge from the day’s business to an open, enjoyment‐driven programme that makes wine and spirits accessible to a broader audience.”
For locals and those heading to Düsseldorf before the trade show starts, City Vibes will begin three day earlier, on 12 March. The inaugural event will be Noir, a French‐inspired evening, with urban beats and contemporary bar culture.
Other planned events as part of ProWein City Vibes will include ‘Love at First Sip’ (a speed‐dating event), a cinema night for film fans, a silent dance walk with ready‐to‐drink serves, and artistic performances accompanied by wine.
Trend Tours will also return to the 2026 fair, led by spirits expert Jürgen Deibel, who will guide visitors through the ProSpirits halls.
“The guided spirits tours at ProSpirits 2026 are a key tool for targeted knowledge transfer and networking,” explains Deibel, who will run the tours twice a day. In addition, two exclusive press tours will be offered for media representatives. Early registration is recommended.

Another highlight of ProSpirits will be the education programme curated by media partner The Spirits Business in a dedicated area in Hall 7, which will be home to The Spirits Business Hub for the second year.
The panels will be chaired by Melita Kiely, editor‐in‐chief of The Spirits Business. Speakers include professor Dr Simone Loose, author of the ProWein Business Report and ProSpirits Report, and actor Ian Somerhalder, co‐founder of Brother’s Bond Bourbon, as well as representatives from Choya Umeshu, San Cosme Mezcal, Origen X, Thomas Henry, and MG Destilerías.
“We were thrilled to present The Spirits Business Hub at ProSpirits 2025 for the first time – and are delighted to return with its second edition in 2026,” says Kiely. “Alongside panel discussions and talks the programme includes spirits tastings, cocktail masterclasses and a high‐calibre bar presence. We’re not shying away from important topics impacting the industry – from Gen‐Z consumption habits to geopolitical challenges to the question of what bartenders really expect from brands.”
Last year saw the launch of the inaugural ProSpirits Report, which will return in 2026. The aim is to capture informed assessments of market trends, challenges, and perspectives of the future, and to compile them in a comprehensive industry report. Findings from the report will be revealed during a seminar hosted in The Spirits Business Hub on 15 March.
There are also a number of seminars in ProWein’s Masterclass Forum, covering topics like alcohol advertising rules, and guided tastings across wines and Japanese spirits sake and shochu.
Looking to future editions, ProWein aims to evolve the Agora Stage “into a year‐round knowledge platform for the industry, extending its relevance beyond the three days of the trade fair,” says Frank Schindler, director of ProWein Düsseldorf.

Limited to 13 casks, it’s a unique opportunity to sample a limited release.
Making its return to ProWein, Belfast Distillery hopes to tap into new growth markets and continue its mission to put the Northern Ireland capital on the global whisky map.

Stand: J58, Hall 5
Located on Brand Venture’s stand, American whiskey Brother’s Bond will be showcasing a new Bourbon to the European market. “ProWein is a key milestone as we accelerate our European expansion,” says Vincent Hanna, co‐founder and CEO. “Following our UK launch, we are now focused on building distribution across key European markets and in travel retail.”

The company will target importers, distributors and hospitality professionals in the European market.
In addition to highlighting its core range of umeshu products and The Choya Series, the brand will also present The Choya Craft Fruit (15% ABV). We’re always looking to engage new markets from around the world – and to meet face‐to‐face with existing partners.”

Sourced from the vast and ancient forests of the Carpathian Mountains that stretch across Central and Eastern Europe, this unique oak is characterised by its tight grain and rich tannins, which impart deep complex flavours.
Beyond the new botting, Teeling’s core Small Batch Whiskey, its single malt, and collaborative bottlings will be on offer.

At this year’s ProWein, Wine of Moldova will introduce a new national sub‐brand identity dedicated to Moldovan brandies, called ‘Divin. Spirit of Moldova’. This new positioning aims to reinforce the geographical origin of Divin brandy and strengthen its presence in international markets.
The stand will also bring together eight producers of Moldovan brandy, who can provide detailed insights into production methods, oak maturation and grape varieties.
Wine & Spirits Shippers Association (WSSA)
Stand: B03, Hall 4
As a key logistics partner to the alcohol sector, the Wine & Spirits Shippers Association (WSSA) will be discussing the ways to mitigate the impact of tariffs and the opportunities that exist for the industry.

WSSA will highlight its groupage services from France, Spain, Italy, and South Africa to the US and Asia, as well as its services from the US to the UK, Europe, and Asia.
“With overall volumes lower in the past months, we are seeing growth in smaller shipments requiring the type of consolidation service we offer,” Leavitt adds. “As a logistics provider, we are always looking at out‐of‐the‐box solutions to more efficiently and economically move wine and spirits around the world.”
