London Essence launches sugar-free tonic

Mixer brand London Essence has added two tonic waters to its range, including what it claims is the UK’s only premium zero-sugar tonic free from artificial sweeteners.

The new expressions aim to meet demand for health-led moderation and premium flavours

The two new expressions have been crafted to meet increasing demand for both health-led moderation and premium flavour exploration.

The brand explained that the drinks landscape is currently being reshaped by consumers who are no longer willing to choose between wellbeing and socialising. According to NIQ’s Global State of Health & Wellness report from May 2025, 66% of consumers say they actively make choices to improve their health. Meanwhile, data from AHDB’s The New Consumer Health Revolution 2026 suggests 23% are actively reducing sugar from their diets.

While moderation and mindful consumption are becoming embedded in modern drinking occasions, London Essence notes that consumers are still seeking heightened, special occasions, with 74% saying that they prefer to visit venues that provide ‘elevated’ experiences, according to CGA data.

As such, London Essence Zero Sugar Tonic Water has been designed to meet the demand for low-sugar options, ensuring health-conscious consumers who want to socialise don’t have to compromise on taste.

The tonic, which is also free from artificial sweeteners, delivers a clean and light flavour with bright citrus complexity.

Beyond health considerations, data from Nielsen’s 2025 report, How can cocktail creativity fuel spirits growth?, found that 47% of consumers are actively seeking flavour twists on traditional cocktails. With this in mind, London Essence has also introduced Riviera Tonic Water.

This flavoured tonic water features aromatic rosemary extract sourced from the Italian coast, which is said to bring a fresh, Mediterranean twist to classic serves.

Pairing ‘effortlessly’ with premium gins, vermouth, and apéritifs, the tonic aims to give bartenders the freedom to craft high-quality drinking experiences that stand out on the menu.

Both tonic waters will be available nationwide to on-trade stockists from 1 April, and in retail from 15 March 2026.

A pack of 24 200ml bottles will be offered at RRP £17.49 (US$23.34).
