Chicken Cock debuts wheated Bourbon
Grain & Barrel Spirits-owned whiskey brand Chicken Cock has replaced its small batch core range expression with a new wheated Bourbon.

The new expression is the first wheated Bourbon from the brand, a shift from the brand’s traditional rye-forward profile.
Crafted with a mash bill of 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley, the Kentucky straight Bourbon is aged for a minimum of five years in virgin American oak barrels charred to level four.
Bottled at 47% ABV, the Bourbon features notes of cordial cherries, cream soda, caramel, baked dough, brown sugar, dried fruit, and gentle baking spices.
The latest addition to the brand’s core range is said to continue a longstanding tradition of Chicken Cock releases that celebrate its rich history, dating to 1856.
Matti Anttila, the CEO of Grain & Barrel Spirits, revived the brand in 2012.
The wheated Bourbon aims to further the brand’s legacy while appealing to new drinkers with its ‘easy-sipping’ character that remains ‘distinctly Chicken Cock’.
Chicken Cock Wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon is available in the US with a suggested retail price of US$54.99 for a 750ml bottle.
The brand opened its micro-distillery, cocktail bar, and retail space, called Chicken Cock Whiskey Circa 1856, in Bardstown’s downtown district in June 2024.
In January 2025, the brand home opened its doors to visitors as part of Kentucky’s Bourbon Trail.
