Penderyn bottles age-statement whiskies for first time
By Miona MadsenWelsh distillery Penderyn is planning a series of celebrations timed around St David’s Day (1 March) – beginning with the launch of its first age-statement whiskies.

Founded in 2000, this February Penderyn Distillery will launch of its first age-statement whisky: limited edition, 25-year-old Penderyn Barrel No.1.
The whisky was drawn from a single Sherry butt and is limited to 420 bottles that will retail for £1,200 (US$1,637) each.
The release will be followed by further age statements that will be released in stages at 12, 21 and 25 years, with the 25-year-old available to pre-order from February and the others from May.
In addition to the new range, Penderyn will launch its Icons of Wales No.14: The Village in early March, which is available to pre-order now. The Welsh single malt was finished in an Amarone cask.
The release celebrates the 100th anniversary of Portmeirion village, designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis in 1926, and will be accompanied by a national programme of tastings and events during Wales Week London, which will be held from 21 February to 7 March.
Stephen Davies, CEO of Penderyn Distillery, said: “When Penderyn started 25 years ago, our ambition was clear: to bring back Welsh whisky and give it a voice on the world stage.
“We now have the depth of stock and maturity to do that with confidence. Our new Aged Statements are not about nostalgia – they’re about progression, patience and pride.
“The Village and our aged whiskies together represent Welsh imagination and independence at their finest. 2026 isn’t just another milestone year – it’s the moment Welsh whisky truly comes of age.”
Penderyn will host two events to celebrate Wales’ national festivities, highlighting The Village and its Aged Statements. One event will take place at the Portmeirion Village in North Wales, and the other at The Whisky Shop in Piccadilly, London, as part of Wales Week London.
Penderyn operates three distilleries across Wales, located in the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park, Llandudno, and Swansea Copperworks, with a combined production capacity of 900,000 litres of alcohol per year.
The Penderyn visitor centres welcome more than 100,000 guests each year.
Penderyn’s products are widely available throughout the UK and are exported to more than 50 countries, including the US, Canada, France, Germany, China, Taiwan and Japan.
Davies added: “Penderyn is proof that Welsh whisky has staying power. We’ve evolved from a curiosity into a global brand rooted in quality and storytelling. As we celebrate St David’s Day, there’s never been a better time to raise a glass to what Wales can achieve.”
