Another Hendrick’s joins gin brand’s permanent range

William Grant & Sons has introduced the first new permanent gin from Hendrick’s in almost a decade – Another Hendrick’s.

Another Hendrick's Gin
New permanent addition: Another Hendrick’s

Another Hendrick’s is based on the original Hendrick’s recipe but with the addition of two new botanicals: cacao and orange blossom.

Another Hendrick’s clocks in at 41.4% ABV and is available now for RRP £33 (US$45).

“It is still obviously Hendrick’s but it has different elements coming through,” Hendrick’s master distiller Lesley Gracie told The Spirits Business during a deconstructed tasting of the new release. “The cacao adds real depth to the gin, and the orange blossom just lifts everything. So you’ve got that nice cacao character but it’s underpinned by that bright citrus.”

Hendrick’s is created on two stills, an antique copper pot Bennett still that dates back to 1860 and a Carterhead still from 1948.

Botanicals are steeped in the Bennett still overnight, while the Carterhead still steams the botanicals in a basket above its neck, said to create a light, fragrant spirit.

Describing the decision to introduce cacao and orange blossom as the two new botanicals, Gracie said: “Cacao is a really interesting plant in itself. The [cacao] flowers actually come out of the trunk of the plant and they’re only on the plant for a day, and then, if they’re not pollinated, they fall off.

“A few years ago, we were in Mexico and we were in this beautiful cocktail bar, and the bartender gave me this drink with a cacao flower as the garnish.

“Looking at the cacao beans when they make them into chocolate, they’ve got so much depth and complexity of their own and cacao is not something that you would typically find in a gin. But, when you look at Hendrick’s, we’ve got depth and complexity in there, but the cacao is kind of the opposite to it.”

Gracie continued: “Then to make sure it was nice and bright I was looking at different elements. We’ve got lots of orange plants in the Mediterranean greenhouse [at the Hendrick’s Distillery]. I love orange blossom and when I put that in, they just worked really well together to give that amazing flavour profile.”

It took several months for Gracie to finalise the recipe for Another Hendrick’s. The final flavour profile is described as having vibrant juniper with bright and citrussy notes on the nose, including orange blossom and a slight sweetness. On the palate, Hendrick’s is enhanced with cacao, bright citrus, orange blossom and ends with a smooth finish.

Another Hendrick’s is recommended served in the Another Hendrick’s Spritz, which includes 50ml Another Hendrick’s Gin, 50ml apple juice, 50ml Prosecco, 75ml soda, a bar spoon of cherry liqueur, and garnished with three cucumber slices, a cocktail cherry and a twist of orange.

Another Hendrick’s is presented in an opaque white bottle to contrast the original black design.

Gracie commented: “When you go into a bar, you immediately know if they’ve got Hendrick’s because of the black bottle.

“This new liquid has got a totally different dimension to it, and putting it in the white bottle is absolutely brilliant because you’ve got two really striking designs now side by side. It’s an immediate attention grabber.”

Gracie to travel to support Another Hendrick’s launch

To support the launch of Another Hendrick’s, Gracie will be heading to New York in the US in April, before heading to other markets, such as Milan in Italy, to get the new addition off the ground. A must-visit for Gracie while she’s in New York, she explained, is a trip to The New York Botanical Garden to satisfy her unending curiosity about plants and botany.

With much talk about gin’s slowdown following years of growth, Gracie weighs in on the current state of gin and where Another Hendrick’s fits into today’s saturated gin category.

“I do think Another Hendrick’s will spark a lot of interest,” she said. “People will see something different and want to try it.

“Hendrick’s is very high up in the gin category, so there’ll be a lot of people who see it, who know the bottle, but will be curious because it looks so different – and it tastes so different as well.

“I think there’s still a lot of room for gins that are quite different and still offer something new to interest people.”

She concluded: “I hope when people taste [Another Hendrick’s] they like it and get that extra depth of flavour, that velvety character and they can understand it’s really cacao, there’s that lovely orange blossom, citrussy element.

“It really lives up to its name – we want to show people another side to Hendrick’s and I just hope people like it.”

Gracie received the Lifetime Achievement Award at The Spirits Business Awards 2021 for her services to the gin category.

At the start of 2026, she was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters degree by The University of Hull.
