In contrast to many other whisky markets, Mexico is predicted to grow its market size by 62% by 2034

The research study titled ‘Mexico Whiskey Market Size, Share, Trends and Forecast by Product Type, Quality, Distribution Channel, and Region, 2026-2034’ analysed market drivers, segmentation, growth opportunities, trends, and the competitive landscape to understand both current and future market scenarios.

In 2025, the whisky market in Mexico was valued at US$905.2m.

With a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.52% between 2026 and 2034, the market is projected to reach US$1.47 billion by the end of 2034. The data correlates to a 62% increase in the market during the forecast period.

The study indicates that growth correlates with rising consumer affluence in Mexico, leading to greater demand for high-quality, premium, and imported whiskies.

Additionally, expanding on-trade channels like bars, restaurants, and lounge boutiques is driving increased whisky consumption.

Mexico has been identified as a hub for cocktail culture, leveraging the global bartending trend and engaging younger consumers to elevate whisky from everyday occasions to social and experiential events.

Cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey are also said to be emerging as key destinations for whisky events and brand activations.

Similar to the local Mexican whisky sector, the rise in imports of foreign whiskies has been driven by free trade agreements and improved distribution.

In Mexico, multinational whisky companies have partnered with local distributors and increased their investments. Additionally, more whisky brands are appearing online and leveraging social media influencers.

Chivas Regal maker Pernod Ricard has partnered with Mexican spirits firm Casa Lumbre on several products in recent years. In 2024, the Paris-headquartered spirits giant took a minority stake in Lewis Hamilton’s alcohol-free agave ‘spirit’ brand, Almave, which was created by Casa Lumbre.

The announcement marked the fourth time the two companies worked together. The French firm has previously invested in Ojo de Tigre mezcal, Mexican whisky Abasolo, and Nocheluna Sotol, a Mexican spirit developed with rock star Lenny Kravitz.
