Saikindō bar to open in Four Seasons Abu Dhabi

The Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi will welcome Saikindō this month, a hi-fi cocktail lounge inspired by the listening bars of Japan.

Saikindō will be headed up by beverage director Marco Corallo (previously of Dubai’s Four Seasons Jumeirah and London’s Artesian) and head mixologist Ann Pinsuda (of The Bamboo Bar in Bangkok).

The bar’s concept will aim to embody the philosophy of Omotenashi, the Japanese art of hospitality, with cocktails made from seasonal Japanese ingredients.

The team will match the menu with music to create cocktails that ‘mirror sound’ and ‘transform tempo and tone into taste’.

Each cocktail will be available in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic form and will feature spirits such as sake and shōchū.

The interior, meanwhile, is shaped by both the Metabolism movement, architecture and design from post-war Japan, and the country’s Bosozoku biker subculture.

Guests can expect a look of ‘classic spy elegance’ from the Metabolism era fused with Bosozoku’s ‘rebellious spirit’, with original fashion pieces juxtaposed against wooden panelling, embroidered wallpaper and mid-century furnishings.

General manager of Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi, Bob Suri, said: “Bringing Saikindō to life has been an inspiring journey of creativity, collaboration and innovation.

“With the vision and support of our ownership and the Department of Culture and Tourism, we’ve created a destination that celebrates craftsmanship, sound, and connection, a first of its kind for Abu Dhabi.”

Considering Saikindō’s emphasis on sound, the team will also host vinyl takeovers, guest DJs and record collectors’ nights – plus intimate masterclasses described as ‘immersive explorations’ where every note, flavour and detail is orchestrated for the experience.

Saikindō can be found inside the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi on Al Maryah Island.

Opening hours are from Sunday to Wednesday from 5pm until 2am, and Thursday and Friday from 5pm until 3am.
