Frapin launches Millésime 1997 – 27 Years Old
By Melita KielyCognac producer Frapin has released its latest vintage: Millésime 1997 – 27 Years Old.

The Cognac was made entirely on the grounds of the Frapin estate, Château Fontpinot, located in the heart of Grande Champagne region of Cognac in France.
The Cognac clocks in at 40.8% ABV.
Frapin said the year 1997 reflected contrasting climatic conditions, with early flowering and a sunnier August than usual, which resulted in a balanced ripening of the grapes.
The 1997 vintage boasts an orange-yellow hue. The aroma is described as having ‘finesse and balance’ with floral aromas of lime blossom and fruity notes of orange and peach compote. When aerated, hints of vanilla and apple appear.
Sipped, the Cognac reveals orange notes and a ‘delicate hint of spice’, leading to nutmeg and liquorice on the finish.
Earlier this year, Frapin and its ambassador, NBA basketball star Rudy Gobert, scored a Gold medal in The Cognac Masters 2025 for their bottling, Frapin XO Cognac Rudy Gobert.
Speaking about the product, cellar master Patrice Piveteau said at the time: “It was just the possibility to create a cuvée for Rudy at the beginning of the partnership. Then, within the contract, we decided to do it in order to increase our deal. To modernise the brand, also.
“We are pleased to increase this partnership with the launch of Cognac Frapin Rudy Gobert Edition XO, a Cognac exclusively harvested, distilled and aged at Frapin’s estate in the heart of Grande Champagne – the premier cru of Cognac.”
Now, for the brand’s latest release, cellar master Piveteau explores Millésime 1997 – 27 Years Old in the video below.
