Daniel Szor to lead Worshipful Company of Distillers
By Lauren BowesThe founder of the Cotswolds Distillery, Daniel Szor, has become the 378th Master of the Worshipful Company of Distillers.

The organisation is one of the City of London’s ancient livery companies and was founded in 1638 to promote excellence in the spirits trade.
Szor became a Freeman of the company in 2015 and a Liveryman in 2016, joining the Court in 2022.
His appointment as Master recognises his contribution to the revival of English whisky and his leadership in sustainable craft distilling.
The Master is elected annually by the Court of Assistants and will lead the Company for one year. Szor takes over the position from Nick Carr, a former Diageo executive.
Szor founded the Cotswolds Distillery in 2014 after a career in finance, explaining his motivations earlier this year on The Spirits Business Podcast.
He is also the co-founder and chair of the English Whisky Guild, which represents the nation’s producers and is currently proposing a geographical indication (GI) for the category.
Szor previously served on the boards of the Wine and Spirit Trade Association and The Gin Guild.
Commenting on his appointment, he said: “I am delighted to be taking on this new role and it will be a privilege to serve the Company this year, supporting its future direction as well as working with key beneficiary partners.”
Earlier this month, former Compass Box CEO Maurice Doyle joined Cotswolds Distillery as non-executive chairman of its board of directors.
