Buffalo Trace brings 2025 Antique Collection to UK

The 2025 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC) has been unveiled to the UK market, marking the collection’s 25th anniversary and the debut of its first new addition in nearly two decades.

First introduced in 2000, the BTAC is said to represent the ‘pinnacle of American whiskey craftsmanship’, annually bringing together some of the most coveted Bourbons and ryes produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky.

Now, as the collection celebrates 25 years, Buffalo Trace has placed a renewed spotlight on the UK, offering British whiskey lovers the opportunity to experience the full depth and rarity of the series.

“The Antique Collection has long been admired by UK whisky enthusiasts, and this year we’re excited to celebrate 25 years of BTAC on both sides of the Atlantic,” said Andrew Duncan, global brand director at Buffalo Trace Distillery. “This is a defining moment for Buffalo Trace in the UK, an opportunity to share the depth of our craftsmanship and the legacy of the distillery with whisky lovers locally.”

To mark this milestone year, Buffalo Trace will host an exclusive consumer tasting at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Covent Garden, London, this December.

Whisky lovers will have the rare opportunity to experience the full Antique Collection in an intimate guided setting, with complimentary tickets available through an Instagram competition launching later this month. Consumers are invited to follow along via @buffalotracedistillery_uk_eu to be in with a chance of winning.

The BTAC now includes a sixth expression, E.H. Taylor Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon, the first addition to the lineup since 2006, which was revealed in October.

The whiskey honours colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr, widely regarded as the father of modern Bourbon and a driving force behind the quality standards that define spirits today.

After purchasing the O.F.C Distillery – now Buffalo Trace – in 1869, Taylor revolutionised production through copper fermentation tanks, steam-heated warehouses and advanced grain equipment that remain central to the distillery’s operations more than 150 years later. He also championed consumer protection through the 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Act, establishing the principles of integrity and quality that continue to shape the whiskey industry worldwide.

Aged for 15 years and four months, and bottled at 50% ABV, it delivers notes of vanilla and seasoned oak on the nose with hints of maple sweetness, while the palate balances caramel and spice with gentle wood notes, finishing with oak, vanilla, soft caramel and a touch of cherry.

It joins the five other whiskeys in the Antique Collection that are released each autumn: George T Stagg Bourbon, William Larue Weller Bourbon, Thomas H Handy Sazerac Straight Rye, Eagle Rare 17-Year-Old Bourbon, and Sazerac Rye 18-Year-Old.

“Every whiskey in the Antique Collection is a reflection of the care, precision, and patience that define Buffalo Trace Distillery,” said Harlen Wheatley, master distiller at Buffalo Trace Distillery. “Since the collection’s creation 25 years ago, we’ve stayed true to our motto, ‘honour tradition, embrace change’, upholding the same principles of craftsmanship as those who came before us.

“Through meticulous distillation, long maturation, and the natural influence of seasoned oak and the Kentucky climate, time continues to shape every drop.”

The BTAC will be available to purchase in the UK from selected retailers including Harrods, Hedonism and Fortnum and Mason from mid-December. Each bottle will have an RRP of £150 (US$197).

The BTAC whiskey will also be served at selected bars including The American Bar at The Savoy, Dram Bar, and Milroy’s of Soho.
