The selection of whiskies were chosen by master blender Dr Stuart Morrison.

The oldest whisky in the series is Dailuaine 21 Years Old Marbled Treasures (54.8% ABV, RRP US$500), which was aged in ex-Sherry casks and is said to have notes of dried fruit, baked apple and spice. The youngest whisky is Teaninich 8 Years Old Daring Rye (59.3%, RRP US$100), described as tasting of toffee, spice and herbal notes.

Morrison said: “Horizons Unbound invites whisky lovers to discover bold new takes on some of our most iconic single malts. It’s a taste of what happens when we challenge the concept of what whisky can be.

“This is a collection that proves exceptional whisky doesn’t just respect tradition – it redefines it.”

Additional releases include a mezcal-finished edition of The Singleton of Glen Ord (56.2% ABV, RRP US$200 for 700ml, US$65 for 200ml). The 17-year-old whisky, titled Into the Blue, was finished in ex-mezcal and second-fill Sherry casks to give spice and fruity richness.

Clynelish 18 Years Old Waxen Sun (51.3% ABV, RRP US$250) used an early distillation ‘pineapple cut’ to give the whisky a tropical waxy profile.

Talisker 14 Years Old Molten Seas (53.7% ABV, RRP US$185 for 700ml, US$55 for 200ml) embraced volcanic rock-toasted American oak casks – a first for the Skye-based distillery.

Lagavulin 12 Years Old Grain & Embers (56.4% ABV, RRP US$180 for 700ml, US$55 for 200ml) boasts a rich, bakery-smoke character from Pedro Ximénez/oloroso casks.

Meanwhile, Oban 12 Years Old Heart of the Harbour (55.3% ABV, RRP US$150) spent time in ex-Bourbon American oak casks, and is said to have flavours of toffee, citrus and sea breeze.

Completing the line-up is Roseisle 14 Years Old Harmonic Grace (54% ABV, RRP US$175 for 700ml, US$50 for 200ml), which combined a mix of refill and rejuvenated casks for a ‘complex’ whisky.

The whiskies are now available in limited quantities from specialist whisky retailers and malts.com.

In related Diageo news, the company introduced Johnnie Walker Black Ruby last year as an extension of its Black Label line. The blended whisky was the first core expression crafted by master blender Dr Emma Walker.
