Chivas Brothers-owned The Glenlivet has kicked off its new Beyond Speyside series with a US-exclusive single malt finished in a Jamaica rum cask.

The Beyond Speyside series looks to capture the essence of various international destinations with the first being Treasure Beach, a ‘hidden gem’ on the south coast of Jamaica.

The series will match cask finishes unique to ‘iconic’ destinations with the idea of inviting Scotch drinkers to ‘broaden their horizons’ and ‘uncover new flavour experiences’.

Kristen Colonna, vice-president marketing, Pernod Ricard USA, explained: “For centuries, the single malt Scotch category has been associated with luxury, prestige and status. As the codes of luxury evolve, today’s discerning whisky drinker is seeking new experiences and flavours that celebrate individuality, curiosity and the joy of discovering something new.

“As a leader in single malt Scotch whisky in the US, The Glenlivet is committed to modernising the category while maintaining its craft.”

For the whisky, The Glenlivet has finished a 12-year-old Scotch in casks that previously held Jamaica rum.

The whisky’s rum cask finish has given it tropical notes where drinkers may find coconut and juicy pineapple. It also features ‘velvety caramel’ and has a fruity and smooth finish.

“We’re constantly looking for ways to push boundaries in single malts,” said Kevin Balmforth, The Glenlivet cask expert. “The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Jamaica Edition, Treasure Beach, demonstrates our commitment to innovation and giving whisky drinkers new flavour experiences.”

It has an ABV of 40% and is available only in the US in select retailers for RRP US$54.99.

Is recommended neat, on the rocks, or in a Banana Old Fashioned to experience its tropical flavours.

The Glenlivet 12 Years Old Jamaica Edition Treasure Beach received a Gold medal at The Scotch Whisky Masters 2025, in the Single Malt: Speyside – Aged up to 12 Years round.

Campaign with Thomas Doherty

The launch is being supported by a campaign fronted by The Glenlivet brand ambassador and Scottish actor Thomas Doherty. Doherty is seen in the advert immersing himself in Jamaican culture and the island with former Miss Universe Jamaica Miqueal-Symone Williams.

Doherty said: “My partnership with The Glenlivet has always been about honouring Scottish craft while embracing the transformative power of journeying beyond the expected.

“There is such a vibrancy to The Glenlivet Jamaica Edition, so I’m proud to continue my partnership with The Glenlivet in celebration of this new release.”

In the campaign, Doherty is styled by Jamaican-Scottish menswear designer Nicholas Daley, which also marks the start of a a collaboration between The Glenlivet and Daley.

Doherty wears a tartan polo that Daley’s designed, which will launch next year as part of a capsule collection from The Glenlivet that offers ‘pieces designed for travelling in style’.

“My dual heritage is what inspires my work. From Scotland, I take inspiration from the traditions of craft, knitwear and tartan. From Jamaica, I draw on the colours, the vibrancy of sound system culture and the energy of reggae,” Daley said of the collaboration.

“The Glenlivet Jamaica Edition was born in Speyside and inspired by Jamaica, and that’s the same approach I took to style this campaign, choosing clothes that featured the signature patterns and textiles of Scotland with the vibrant colours and silhouettes inspired by Jamaica.”

The Glenlivet previously ventured into fashion last December with a teal tartan print that Doherty modelled.

In other Glenlivet news, last week the brand was also part of the Distillers One of One charity auction where its 60-year-old Spira expression sold for £650,000 (US$866,724) – an auction record for the single malt.
