Fire inspires new lightly peated Indri Agneya

Mangrove Global has welcomed Indri’s new lightly peated Indian single malt, Agneya, to its world whisky portfolio.

Indri Agneya will join the brand’s permanent range

Agneya, joining Indri’s existing UK range of Trini, Dru, and the limited edition Diwali, is the first peated expression in the brand’s core range.

The single malt is crafted from 100% six-row malted barley sourced from Rajasthan and is lightly peated in India using Scottish Highland peat. Double-distilled in copper pot stills, the whisky is matured in ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks.

Indri Agneya is bottled at 46% ABV and offers notes of mango, banana, melon, and toffee, along with subtle hints of dried peat smoke.

The name ‘Agneya’ is derived from Sanskrit, meaning ‘belonging to fire.’ It also refers to the daughter of Agni, the Hindu god of fire. The term is said to capture ‘the depth, heat, and unique qualities’ associated with fire and wood.

Nick Gillett, managing director of Mangrove Global, commented: “World whisky is at its best when provenance and process shape something genuinely original – and Agneya does exactly that. The combination of Highland peat and Indian six-row barley delivers a style of peat you simply won’t find elsewhere.

“With Diwali always in short supply, Agneya gives our customers a peated expression they can list, hand-sell and come back to – it adds real breadth to the Indri range and to our wider world whisky portfolio.”

Price-wise, Agneya will be positioned just above Trini and is available now in the UK through Mangrove’s distribution networks.

Indri has been part of the distributor’s portfolio since June 2024.
