Seed Library to open in New York
By Georgie CollinsRyan ‘Mr Lyan’ Chetiyawardana will open his first bar in New York City this autumn with Seed Library NY.

Seed Library New York will be the first permanent bar in the city from Chetiyawardana, who has venues in London, Washington DC and Amsterdam.
Located on the lower ground floor of Hotel Park Ave in the heart of the city’s Nomad neighbourhood, Seed Library NY will aim to offer an ‘intimate escape from the chaos of the city’.
The venue, which will boast its own private entrance, is a collaboration between Mr Lyan, Lore Group and Renwick Hospitality, which will seek to bring a ‘familiar yet fresh’ perspective to New York’s cocktail landscape.
Drawing inspiration from the original Seed Library in One Hundred Shoreditch, east London, the new space reimagines the ‘stripped-back warmth and unpretentious creativity’ of the original venue, while embracing the heritage and innovation that define New York bar culture.
The space has been designed by Lore Group creative director Jacu Strauss, in partnership with RD Studio, and blends organic textures, natural materials, and understated elegance to reflect the bar’s philosophy of embracing nature’s variance.
The Lyan team brings to Seed Library NY its signature blend of hospitality, curiosity and flavour, with the trademark Lyan inclusivity and warmth.
The Lyan venue portfolio has garnered a reputation globally for being at the forefront of sustainability and cocktail creativity. Guests can expect a curated menu of reimagined classics and original drinks that showcase a wide spectrum of flavours, supported by a selection of low-intervention wines, craft beers, artisanal spirits and sake.
The venue will also offer a concise menu of bar snacks created in collaboration with Renwick Hospitality to reflect the same ethos of simplicity and natural expression found in the drinks programme.
Service will be led by a team of seasoned New York bar professionals, alongside familiar faces from the other award-winning Lyan bars.
The bar is slated to open in autumn this year, with an official opening date yet to be confirmed.
