No.3 Gin goes organic

Berry Bros & Rudd-owned No.3 London Dry Gin has received organic certification, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s ongoing work towards reducing its environmental impact.

The No.3 London Dry Gin labels now display the brand’s ‘organic’ status

The No.3 Gin labels now feature ‘organic’, as well as the distinctive European Union organic leaf logo, signifying that the liquid is made exclusively with organic ingredients sourced only from certified suppliers.

The process for distillation and bottling is also fully certified organic.

Lizzy Rudd, chair at Berry Bros & Rudd, commented: “No.3 London Dry Gin has always been about quality in the pursuit of perfection. This organic certification ensures that we continue to deliver excellence by creating a more sustainable future for our gin and everything that goes into making it.

“We are excited about this milestone and committed to continue to seek ways to protect and regenerate the natural world on which we all depend.”

Dr David Clutton, the only person to hold a PhD in gin, added: “No.3 Gin’s commitment to sustainability is a significant move within the industry. Using only organic ingredients ensures the highest standards while minimising environmental impact. This is a bold and commendable decision that sets a new benchmark for ultra-premium gin.”

Throughout the transition, the No.3 team says it has remained focused on maintaining the luxury gin’s ‘time-honoured craftsmanship and ultra-premium quality’ to ensure its taste remains consistent.

The current No.3 Gin will be phased out as existing stock is sold, making way for the new, more sustainable expression of the gin.

The No.3 Gin bottles are made with 40% recycled glass by glassmakers that are said to be committed to limiting and reducing atmospheric emissions. They also feature 100% sustainable natural cork stoppers and wooden heads.

No.3 Gin is working towards using 100% recycled glass. All labels are created using FSC-accredited paper by a supplier ‘striving to minimise waste and reduce greenhouse emissions’.

The bottles’ ‘famous’ key logo, which features on the bottle, is crafted from Zamac and can be recycled indefinitely.

The transition reflects the brand’s long-term vision of reducing its environmental footprint and supporting responsible sourcing, aligning with growing consumer demand for ethically produced spirits.

Organic No.3 London Dry Gin will be available from a range of retailers, including Berry Bros & Rudd, Waitrose, Amazon, Master of Malt, Ocado, for £39.50.

In The Gin Masters 2024, No.3 won a Gold medal in the Ultra-Premium Gin category.
