New Singapore bar offers some of the world’s rarest whiskies
By Lauren BowesA whisky bar concept called Horatio, which is based on a fictional globetrotter, has opened at Resorts World Sentosa’s Crockfords Tower in Singapore.

Horatio is a whisky-focused venue inspired by the journeys of Horatio Fairchild, a fictional character who has visited all of the great distilling regions of the world.
The character is said to be ‘the embodiment of adventure and curiosity that define the very essence of the bar’.

Horatio offers three distinct spaces: The Main Parlour, The Retail Emporium, and The Enclave.
Guests enter through The Retail Emporium, which houses a collection of rare and exclusive bottles and offers tailor-made tasting flights.
Meanwhile, The Main Parlour offers signature cocktails based on the world’s ‘finest’ ingredients, with a menu titled Trails & Tales. The 12-drink list is inspired by spirits-producing regions around the world, with each cocktail telling a story from Horatio’s journeys.
For instance, Kueh Kueh Spirits is made with Bourbon, palm sugar, coconut, winter melon, calamansi and salted egg yolk. Its story reveals how Horatio discovered a hidden bar run by a Peranakan mixologist while wandering through Katong. The bartender teaches Horatio how to brew a unique spirit inspired by traditional herbal remedies and spices used in Nyonya cuisine.
Meanwhile, Scotland is the basis for the Highland Hermit, which features blended Scotch, heather honey, pear, lemon, thyme and shortbread. In its story, Horatio shelters from a storm in a bothy, where he meets a mysterious shepherd named Angus. Angus takes Horatio to a hidden whisky cave used by illicit distillers centuries ago and teaches him the craft of Scotch.
The final space, The Enclave, is a hidden room accessible only by special invitation. It offers a curated menu of rare cocktails, each of which is ‘cloaked in intrigue’, inviting guests to uncover hidden stories.

Each cocktail is priced at SGD$26 (US$20).
The venue’s back bar features more than 300 ‘exceptionally’ rare bottles, including The Macallan The Reach 81YO, Karuizawa Omoiyari 36YO, Port Ellen 1978 43YO, and Brora 1977 45YO.
Horatio also purchased and bottled a 1988 Macallan cask.
Outside of whisky, it also offers barrel-aged agave spirits, eaux-de-vie, and amaro.
The food programme is equally inspired by global flavours, from pan-fried Italian sardines to wagyu beef skewers.
Andreas Reich, senior vice-president of F&B and general management at Resorts World Sentosa, said: “At Resorts World Sentosa, we are committed to curating exceptional dining experiences that surprise and delight. Following the openings of Pierre Hermé Paris Singapore, Sugarra and KA-MON, Horatio marks our latest addition – a whisky-forward cocktail bar inspired by Horatio’s global adventures. Each visit offers a touch of mystery, charm and refinement.
“It’s not just a bar; it’s an immersive journey that reflects our continued ambition to enrich the resort with world-class culinary and lifestyle offerings.”
