Mezcals Marca Negra and Meteoro up European presence
By Miona MadsenTwo mezcal brands, Marca Negra and Meteoro, have entered the second phase of their European relaunch in partnership with distributor Brand Venture.

The collaboration is said to highlight a mutual commitment to making authentic, handcrafted mezcal more accessible to consumers across Europe through strategic partnerships with distributors.
In phase one, the brands successfully established a presence in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy, partnering with local and regional distributors.
The second phase aims to expand the distribution of Marca Negra and Meteoro to up to four additional countries.
Jan Bernd Koster, partner at Brand Venture, commented: “This partnership reflects our strong belief in the future of mezcal and other agave spirits. Joining forces with Marca Negra and Meteoro allows us to introduce a broader audience to these exceptional spirits while helping to build a category we are deeply passionate about.”
Previously distributed across Europe by Borco prior its absorption, Marca Negra offers traditional, small-batch, handmade mezcals, including Espadín, Dobadan, Tobalá, Ensamble, San Martin, and Tepeztate.
In contrast, Meteoro provides a versatile yet equally authentic expression that is crafted using the same artisanal methods but designed for wider accessibility.
Pedro Quintanilla, co-founder of Marca Negra and Meteoro, said: “We are excited that Brand Venture will be our trusted logistics and market expansion partner, contributing to growing our distribution. Their expertise in logistics, warehousing, and market strategy will ensure seamless operations and strong distributor connections.”
