Buckingham Palace moves into RTDs

The Royal Collection Trust, a charitable department of the British royal household, has added a ready-to-drink (RTD) gin and tonic to its spirits range.

The canned G&T joins the Royal Collection Trust’s existing line of spirits

The launch of the 250ml Buckingham Palace Gin & Tonic in a Tin, crafted with Buckingham Palace Dry Gin and premium tonic water, has been timed to coincide with the summer opening of Buckingham Palace – the London administrative headquarters of King Charles III.

The canned G&T marks the first product in the RTD market for Royal Collection Trust, and expands its existing line of gins, each infused with botanicals harvested from the gardens of the three official royal residences.

The Buckingham Palace Dry Gin – which sold out in hours when it launched in 2020 – is available alongside the Buckingham Palace Sloe Gin, the Pink Windsor Castle Gin, and the Palace of Holyroodhouse Dry Gin, and is made with 12 botanicals including lemon verbena, bay leaves and mulberry leaves hand-picked from the Palace’s garden.

In addition to the launch of the RTD, the Royal Collection Trust’s alcohol range will be available to external partners for the first time from this summer, as the charity has been granted an alcohol wholesale licence.

Kaneesha Bose, head of central retail, Royal Collection Trust, said: “We take real pride in the development of our alcohol range, which uses fresh botanicals grown on royal grounds wherever possible. We are delighted to have been granted the wholesale licence which will give us the opportunity to bring our drinks to more people.

“The convenient can format of our Buckingham Palace Gin & Tonic in a Tin will mean even more people can taste our classic gin, uniquely infused with ingredients from the beautiful garden at Buckingham Palace.”

The Buckingham Palace Gin & Tonic in a Tin is available for purchase from the on-site shops and cafés at the royal residences, and forms part of the afternoon tea offering at The Garden Café at Buckingham Palace this summer.

Each can retails for £8 each (US$10.65) and boasts an ABV of 6.8%.

A wider selection of alcohol, which includes Palace of Holyroodhouse Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, is available from Royal Collection Trust Shops in London, Edinburgh and Windsor, and online at royalcollectionshop.co.uk/foodhall/wine-and-spirits.

The income from purchases of the spirits will contribute towards to the care and conservation of the Royal Collection.
