Cotton & Reed expands Mid-Atlantic presence

Rum distillery Cotton & Reed has partnered with Prestige-Ledroit Distributing to increase its US footprint.

Cotton & Reed’s core lineup of rums will be distributed by Prestige-Ledroit

Washington DC-based Cotton & Reed has announced a new distribution partnership with Prestige-Ledroit Distributing Co to grow its presence across Maryland, DC, and Delaware.

Prestige-Ledroit specialises in artisanal spirits and independent producers, and will carry Cotton & Reed’s full line of rums.

“Prestige-Ledroit has the best selection of both local spirits and rums from around the world, and we couldn’t be happier to join their book,” CEO Jordan Cotton said. “They are a national rarity –a wholesaler that combines expertise and a dedication to craft with the scale to service accounts and a sterling reputation among buyers and suppliers alike.”

Cotton & Reed produces a white rum, gold rum, PX dark rum, coconut rum, Allspice Dram, and a line of canned cocktails.

It became the first rum distillery in DC when it opened in 2016 and is located in the city’s Union Market neighbourhood.

The partnership with Prestige-Ledroit began in July 2025.

“Cotton & Reed exemplifies the kind of creativity and craftsmanship we look for in our partners,” John Dynan, Prestige-Ledroit senior spirits portfolio manager, added. “We’re excited to help bring their exceptional rums to more bars, restaurants, and retailers throughout the region.”

Board president

In April, Cotton was elected president of the board of directors of the American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA). He has been on the board since 2023 and has served as an ally on the ground for the organisation in Washington, including chairing its political action committee.

“Working with ACSA has been the best medicine I’ve found to counter the all-too-familiar feeling that this business can be just too tough,” Cotton noted.

“I’m excited to work with our talented Board to continue ACSA’s vital work – improving our regulatory landscape and strengthening the sense of community we all need to thrive in this challenging industry.”
