Mother Root champions rhubarb in summer apéritif
Non-alcoholic apéritif Mother Root has introduced a limited edition rhubarb expression designed to capture the same ‘feel-good essence’ of a Spritz or glass of rosé.

Crafted with natural ingredients including apple cider vinegar – a flavour amplifier with gut-friendly, digestion-supporting health benefits – and rhubarb root, which is known for its benefits and ancient origins in Chinese medicine – the new blend is designed to deliver a drink that ‘nourishes the body and helps the mind unwind’.
The flavour is said to bring elegance and complexity, which is amplified by chinotto, a citrus fruit that enhances the tartness of rhubarb and adds an ‘aromatic edge’ while remaining light and zesty.
A nod to British seasonality, and curated with the romance of long lunches in the garden in mind, this light and zesty limited edition serve is the perfect alternative to rosé, sparkling wine, or a summer spritz.
Bethan Higson, founder of Mother Root, commented: “At Mother Root we are all about curating flavours that are bold, interesting and distinctive – something that people can’t seem to get enough of. That’s the spirit I wanted to bring into people’s glasses with this limited edition rhubarb serve, to deliver a new way to welcome summer with a burst of vibrant flavour, elegance and earthy complexity.”
To make the expressions suggested signature serve, pour 25ml Mother Root Rhubarb into a Champagne flute and top with 150ml fridge-cold soda water and serve without garnish or ice. This ‘light and zesty’ serve is said to be the perfect non-alcoholic alternative to rosé, sparkling wine, or a summer Spritz.
The 500ml expression is available for a limited time for £32 (US$44) from www.motherroot.london.
