The collaboration between Papa Salt and Salud is said to mark a significant step for both companies in introducing the premium craft spirit to Austrian consumers.

Launched in 2023, Papa Salt Coastal Gin was created by five friends: Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Regan Riskas Maas, and Charlie Maas.

The gin is produced at the Lord Byron Distillery in Byron Bay, Australia, and is said to ’embody the essence of an idyllic Australian beach day’.

Made with native Australian botanicals such as wattleseed and coriander, Papa Salt was named after a chance encounter at a beach bar with a man known by that nickname.

The citrus-driven gin offers notes of sweet juniper, sea salt, ginger, and a hint of spice, designed to evoke ‘carefree beach moments’.

Maria Kitsati, country director for Salud Austria, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership: “Although the gin market is challenging, we like to experiment and keep our assortment updated and interesting for our customers across all corners of Austria.”

The gin made its debut in the UK last June, followed by a nationwide Tesco listing in January 2025.

Earlier this year, Papa Salt teamed up with mixer brand Fever-Tree to introduce a blood orange-flavoured ready-to-drink (RTD) Spritz.

The launch followed the brand’s inaugural RTD – a gin-based Paloma created for global travel retail.
