Known for its ‘heavy’ pot still rums, Hampden Estate is considered one of the oldest sugar estates in Jamaica.

The new 1753 Rum pays homage to the distillery’s heritage. It is made using spring water sourced from a nearby spring, undergoes a long fermentation process initiated by natural, indigenous yeasts, and is distilled in double-retort copper pot stills.

The rum has been aged in tropical conditions for three years in ex-Bourbon barrels at the distillery’s warehouse.

Offered at 46% ABV, the rum contains no added sugar or colouring.

On the palate, 1753 Rum exhibits notes of ripe fruits, including pineapple and banana, with hints of nuts and ‘a fresh vegetal touch’, accompanied by lemon, grapefruit, sweet spices, and light stone fruits on the finish.

The rum is described as approachable and versatile, making it ideal for sipping and mixing.

Hampden Estate 1753 is distributed in the UK by Speciality Brands and is available across all channels with an RRP of £65 (US$87).

The new expression joins the drinks agency’s portfolio of other rums from the Jamaican distillery, as well as brands such as Chichibu and Thomson whiskies, and Takamaka.
