Blackland Distillery expands nationwide
By Ted SimmonsSix years after launching, Texas-based Blackland Distillery is now available throughout the US thanks to a partnership with Terlato.

Former attorney and chef Markus Kypreos founded Blackland Distillery in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2019.
In November 2024, Terlato Wine Group invested in Blackland to help it increase production and expand distribution. Now, the brand has reached all 50 states with distribution through Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits.
“This is the moment we’ve been working toward since day one,” Kypreos said. “We started small but we dreamed big. Now, just six years later, we’ve scaled nationwide. This expansion through our partnership with Terlato is incredibly rewarding and gives us access to retailers and markets that once felt out of reach. We’re not just representing Fort Worth – we’re showing the entire country what Texas spirits as a whole are capable of, and we’re doing it in a big, bold way.”
Kypreos trained at institutions like The Culinary School of Fort Worth. Blackland credits his innovative and culinary-forward approach to spirits for its rapid growth, as well as its embrace of technology and local Texas ingredients.
The distillery uses computerised pot and column stills known as iStills and stainless steel mash tuns to create its spirits.
Blackland’s portfolio includes vodka, gin, Bourbon and rye whiskey. It has also created two whiskey liqueurs: Texas Pecan Brown Sugar Bourbon and Texpresso Whiskey, a blend of whiskey, coffee, brown sugar and pecans.
“This is only the beginning,” Kypreos added. “We’re proud of what we’ve built in Fort Worth and are thrilled to share it with the rest of the country.”
