Glen Scotia unveils 2025 festival edition
By Miona MadsenThe annual limited edition Campbeltown Malts Festival bottling from Glen Scotia Distillery has been revealed, with Salud Spirits’ Austrian distribution arm launching the release in Austria.

The new expression from Glen Scotia Distillery was created in celebration of the Campbeltown Malts Festival, taking place this year from 19-24 May.
The 2025 release is a nine-year-old heavily-peated single malt, initially aged in first-fill Bourbon barrels and finished for six months in Spanish Ribera del Duero red wine casks.
Glen Scotia Distillery produces peated spirit for only six weeks each year.
The Campbeltown Malts Festival 2025 edition is bottled at 54.7% ABV, the whisky displays aromas of peat smoke, coastal salinity, and vanilla, joined on the palate by notes of blackberries, red fruits, and oils.
The release returns with a unique on-pack experience, offering an insight into the distillery and the journey to Campbeltown that makes the festival so special each year.
By scanning the on-pack QR code, fans of the brand will be able to experience the ‘magical journey’ to the ‘Wee Toon’ with three of Scotland’s top travel influencers – Chris Lawlor (@chrispaullawlor), Graeme Johncock (@scotlands_stories) and Barbara Gajewska (@discovermyscotland) – as they embark on the voyage to the distillery’s Campbeltown home.
Iain McAlister, Glen Scotia master distiller and distillery manager, said: “This year’s Festival Release promises a unique experience that will transport you straight to Campbeltown with your first sip. As well as delivering the maritime and salinity notes synonymous with Glen Scotia, this whisky also provides an element of surprise as it develops on the palate. The finish brings a bold burst of vibrant flavour from the Ribera del Duero red wine casks which is a distinctive pairing with the heavy peat.
“The virtual on-pack experience also offers something really special this year – our remote home on the Kintyre peninsula makes for a wild and beautiful journey that not everyone is able to take. Now people can experience what it’s like to make the spectacular journey to Campbeltown with a selection of Scotland’s top travel content creators.
“There’s no better way to savour a dram of this year’s limited edition single malt than by embarking on an unforgettable journey, whether by road, foot, or sea and we look forward to welcoming Glen Scotia fans who are making this journey to join us at the 2025 Campbeltown Malts Festival.”
Available to purchase online and in specialist retailers globally, Glen Scotia’s Campbeltown Malts Festival 2025 release retails for £68 (US$88).
Austrian distribution
The product has been launched in the Austrian market by Salud, and is now available through select retailers and speciality whisky shops.
Maria Kitsati, country manager for Salud, said: “We are thrilled to present this year’s Glen Scotia Festival Release. The combination of Campbeltown’s maritime character with the rich, fruity influence of Ribera del Duero casks makes this an extraordinary whisky. It’s a true collector’s item for peat lovers and wine cask enthusiasts alike.”
Last year, Salud Austria launched a limited edition Loch Lomond 12-year-old whisky aged in a Madeira hogshead cask.
In September 2024, Glen Scotia teamed up with the Maclean Foundation to create an Alice in Wonderland-inspired whisky and unveiled its second expression in the Icons of Campbeltown collection.
