E&A Scheer claims that the warehouse is the first in Europe dedicated to rare and old cask rum

Based in Amsterdam, E&A Scheer is one of the world’s largest bulk rum suppliers. Its sister organisation, The Main Rum Company, specialises in premium and super‐premium rums matured in casks of various woods and types.

The Main Rum Company has relocated to a new warehouse in Liverpool, close to the previous site by the River Mersey and the firm’s head office.

The company said the decision to open the new site was made as the firm prepares to meet ‘increased demand’.

Andy Seach, commercial manager, The Main Rum Company, said: “The move represents a great evolution for The Main Rum Company. It provides us with exceptional levels of control over some of our most special casks and will, ultimately, help us to improve our overall service levels.

“The new warehouse will represent a hub for inventory development and innovation, opening new opportunities to educate and support both existing and new players in the industry.”

The warehouse is home to a collection of rare and old rums from across the world.

“This inventory forms just a part of our rum cask collection, which is spread out over multiple locations across Europe and origins around the globe, from Jamaica to Vietnam,” said Niels Benschop, chief commercial officer of E&A Scheer.

“This makes an unparalleled rum cask collection available to our customers worldwide.”

The Main Rum Company also provides specialist consultancy services such as advising established brands on the most suitable type of rum for any given project and supporting new players targeting the premium market.

Earlier this year, E&A Scheer expanded its portfolio with new rums from Australia, Cambodia, Haiti, Japan and Tahiti.

In January 2024, E&A Scheer was acquired by global investment firm Platinum Equity for an undisclosed sum.
