Elixir Distillers reimagines Black Tot
By Miona MadsenIndependent bottler Elixir Distillers has unveiled a new recipe and design for its flagship Black Tot Finest Caribbean Rum.

The new branding is said to represent a brighter and more versatile expression of Black Tot rum that can be enjoyed neat or in a cocktail.
Black Tot Finest Caribbean Rum launched in October 2019 as a blend of single-origin rums sourced across the Caribbean.
Created by Oliver Chilton, Elixir Distillers’ master blender, the brand aims to present ‘a depth of flavour that is much greater than the sum of its parts’.
The blend includes rums from Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, and, as a new addition, Trinidad.
Each type of rum is said to contribute unique characteristics to the blend, resulting in an expression that displays aromas of ripe pineapple, vanilla fudge, and toasted cinnamon.
Chilton said: ‘The new blend is an approachable all-rounder. We’ve layered Trinidad rum into our original blend – a softer, sweeter, and tropical fruit-driven blend – which makes our new Black Tot Finest Caribbean blend so versatile.
“Its depth of flavour is both for sipping and makes a strong base for building brilliant cocktails: we want to get more people into this incredible category.”
The new recipe is paired with an orange label, reflecting the expression’s character.
With sustainability in mind, the rum is presented without an outer box.
Bottled at 46.2% ABV, the reimagined rum will be rolled out across all markets from April, with a suggested retail price of £42.95 (US$55).
All Black Tot rums are presented without added sugar or flavourings and are non-chill-filtered.
At The Rum & Cachaça Masters 2025, Black Tot Historic Solera was recognised with a Gold medal and Master Blender’s Reserve 2024 was awarded a Master medal.
