Gattertop curates cocktails for the A-list
By Rupert HohwielerEnglish spirits producer Gattertop Drinks took its vodka to the 45th London Critics’ Circle Awards, curating a special cocktail menu for the event.

Held on 2 February in London’s Mayfair hotel, the awards celebrated the best of film in 2024.
As the official vodka sponsor, Gattertop created a special menu with serves inspired by the nominated films.
Created in collaboration with mixer brand Double Dutch, the signature cocktails took after The Substance, The Brutalist and Conclave, all nominated films.
The Substance‘s cocktail – named The Activator – was made with Gattertop No1 vodka, Midori and fresh lime, finished with Double Dutch’s Cucumber & Watermelon soda. The cocktail’s colour was designed to replicate the same green hue of the substance in the film.

The Brutalist takes after the film of the same name, starring Adrien Brody. Noting ‘architectural influences and powerful themes’ from the film, the idea is said to be a ‘modern reimagining’ of a 1950s Manhattan. It was crafted with Gattertop No12 damson liqueur, complemented by Vault Aperitivo’s rosemary and orange bitter vermouth.
Lastly, inspired by Conclave, the Communion is based on a long Martini, which is also said to be the film’s lead actor Ralph Fiennes’ personal favourite cocktail.
Capturing the film’s ‘quiet intensity’, the cocktail combines The Gattertop No7 botanical vodka with Vault Aperitivo’s white vermouth. It is finished with Double Dutch’s pomegranate and basil soda and gold leaf mixer.
Gattertop Drinks was awarded B Corp status last September after achieving an assessment score of 81.9.
The producer’s range of British spirits includes three vodkas – No.1 Classic, No.7 Botanical and No.12 Damson – with each crafted from single estate-sourced orchard fruits and botanicals that have been harvested from the Gattertop farm in Herefordshire.
