Virginia Distillery to offer contract distillation

American Custom Distilling Group (ACD), created by Virginia Distillery Co, offers full-service contract distillation across whiskey styles.

Virginia Distillery is an independently owned producer of American single malt.

ACD will offer a full suite of distilling and spirits production services to brands, entrepreneurs, and distiller partners.

The distilling campus sits on 100 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It has current storage capacity of 15,000 casks, with construction plans to build three additional warehouses, bringing capacity to 22,500 casks. The distillery uses double copper Forsythe pot stills, closed top fermentation and has an annual new-make capacity of 400,000 proof gallons.

“Our mission is to bring our clients’ craft spirits to life with a level of care as if they were our own,” said chief operating officer Jerry Heddy. “Whether launching a new brand, diversifying your Bourbon portfolio, or investing in American single malt, we’re here to be your reliable partner by providing custom-tailored solutions, ultra-high-quality spirits, and a straightforward price structure.”

Provided services include custom distilling, custom bottling, aged stocks, packing procurement, private labelling, warehousing and cask storage and sourcing. Clients will be able to select mash bill, grains, yeast, botanicals or any speciality addition for their spirit during distillation. Aged stocks are also available, including the brand’s deep reserve of American single malt.

Virginia Distillery, based in Lovingston, Virginia, is a founding member of the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission. American single malt was officially recognised as a style in December 2024, with the TTB passing formal guidelines to define it. The distillery’s CEO Gareth Moore was among those most vocal in advocating formal recognition.

Brands have responded to formalisation in a number of ways.  Brother Justus offered a dissenting opinion, while Southern Distilling in North Carolina quickly announced it was able to contract distil the style. ACD adds to the ASM contract offerings across the country, and a larger movement of contract distilling in general.
