‘Record’ year for Desolas Mezcal
By Melita KielyDesolas Mezcal experienced a ‘record’ year in 2024 after sales throughout the US grew by 103% compared with the previous year.

Female-founded, 2024 was a year of ‘significant milestones’ for Desolas Mezcal, as it secured awards and extended its distribution partnerships.
Desolas upped its US presence last year by adding Colorado, via Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, and Georgia, through Savannah Distributing, to its market availability. The brand also entered into a national distribution deal with Southern Glazer’s.
Furthermore, the mezcal brand is now also available in Texas following the addition of Spec’s Retail Stores, the state’s largest retailer.
Sammy Halpern, former Blue Run Spirits executive who joined Desolas as chief strategy officer in 2024, commented: “Desolas Mezcal is the ideal brand to sink my teeth into with the growth of the agave sector right now.
“I love the brand’s approach to mezcal, focusing on the San Luis Potosí region offering a bright agave-forward taste profile mezcal.
“As consumers continue to educate themselves on all the types of agave that Mexico has to offer, it’s only a matter of time before the entire world knows about Desolas Mezcal.”
Looking to the year ahead, the mezcal producer plans to continue highlighting its non-smoky mezcal style and educate consumers further about the category.
In 2023, Desolas Mezcal also ventured to Canada through a distribution deal with Renaissance Wine Merchants.
