Jameson extends Triple Triple range

Pernod Ricard-owned Jameson Irish Whiskey has added a new expression to its portfolio, which has spent time ageing in sweet chestnut casks.

The new expression is the second in the Triple Triple range

Jameson Triple Triple Chestnut Edition has been triple-distilled and blended from a combination of ex-Bourbon and oloroso Sherry casks, plus hand-selected sweet chestnut casks.

The new expression builds on the success of Jameson’s first Triple Triple release – introduced as an exclusive offering in travel retail – which saw ex-Bourbon and oloroso Sherry casks meet Málaga wine casks, resulting  in a whiskey that boasts subtle sweetness, citrus fruit notes and the ‘signature’ Triple Triple extra smooth taste profile.

Jameson Triple Triple Chestnut Edition offers opening aromas of toffee fudge, vanilla, and hazelnut chocolate, while subtle orchard fruit notes of sweet pear and green apple softly linger in the background. Meanwhile the chestnut wood influence emphases tones of dark chocolate and toasted almond.

Fudge and vanilla are also present on the palate, while mild nutty undertones and gentle wood spices slowly build over time. These notes are complemented by orchard fruits and toasted wood, the latter of which lingers of the finish.

Master distiller Kevin O’Gorman commented: “At Jameson, we’ve known that good things come in threes ever since John Jameson introduced the world to triple-distilled Jameson Irish Whiskey. Jameson Triple Triple Chestnut Edition is no exception to this rule. Our single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys have been further enhanced through a combination of triple cask maturation to create an exciting new taste experience. Sweet chestnut wood imparts rich notes of chocolate and fudge, adding a luxurious layer to Jameson whiskey’s much-loved character, making it an excellent new addition to the family.”

Bottled at 40% ABV, Jameson Triple Triple Chestnut Edition is priced at RRP US$29/£29 and is now available in South Africa, the UK, US, Ireland, Canada and Poland, with Japan and India to follow.

Last month, Jameson tipped ancient ritualistic drinks to trend in this year’s edition of its Black Barrel Bartender Series competition, entries for which close at 23:59 EST on 17 February.
