London’s Silverleaf closes

The bar at the Pan Pacific London hotel, Silverleaf, had its final service last night (30 January).

The hotel’s general manager Anne Golden said: “We can confirm that the very difficult decision has been made to close Silverleaf bar as of 30 January. However, we are excited about a new long-term collaboration, which we look forward to sharing in the coming weeks.

“It has been an honour to have worked with the incredibly talented team at Silverleaf over the past few years, and we are grateful for their dedication and creativity.

“While we are unable to share further details at this time, we hope to provide more updates soon.”

The hotel declined to comment on rumours regarding the sale of Devonshire House, a building external to the main hotel in which the bar resided.

The bar’s Instagram profile has been taken down.

The team was led by general manager Liam Broom and head of research and development Rueben Clark, who introduced a menu based on textures in autumn last year.

Silverleaf opened in 2022, led by Martyn ‘Simo’ Simpson, who departed the bar in 2023.

It was awarded two pins in the Pinnacle Guide.

Posting on Instagram, the guide said: “Silverleaf blew our anonymous reviewers away with a distinctive approach to drinks, carefully created garnishes, and impeccable service, blending the warmth of a neighbourhood spot with the sophistication of a luxury hotel lounge.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of its closing, and are thinking of the Silverleaf team members attending their last shift this evening.

“As Silverleaf said in their application: ‘We want to create a community where everyone on the team champions both the team, but also the bar as a living breathing entity.’ As with any bar, it is the people that make a space feel special. Silverleaf will be missed, and we extend the best of luck to the team in their future endeavours.”
