Participants worldwide are invited to share their passion for whisky from Canada

The week-long online event invites whisky lovers from around the globe to ‘honour the rich heritage, craftsmanship, and local flavours of Canadian whisky.’

The event, open to participation worldwide, offers whisky fans the chance to connect, discover, and share their appreciation for the country’s whisky.

Reece Sims, founder of Flavor Camp, said: “We’re excited to showcase the incredible diversity and craftsmanship of Canadian whisky to a global audience. Canadian Whisky Week is about celebrating whisky in all its forms, connecting communities, and discovering new ways to enjoy it.”

Throughout the week, participants are encouraged to share a photo or reel featuring Canadian whisky with tasting notes or insights, post an original or classic cocktail recipe that uses the spirit, recommend resources like books, articles, podcasts, or videos about the category, and share educational content about whisky history, production, and flavour.

Consumers are invited to join the conversation using the hashtag #cadwhiskyweek and tag @flavorcamp for a chance to be featured on the event’s official website.

Andrea Fujarczuk, program coordinator and professor of Artisan Distilling for Niagara College, commented: “What makes Canadian Whisky Week so special is its inclusivity. Whether you’re new to whisky or a long-time fan, this week offers a chance to connect with others, share stories, and explore the diversity of Canadian whisky.”

Regarded as the ‘highlight’ of the week, the Canadian Whisky Awards will take place on Thursday 16 January, where the best whiskies in Canada for 2025 will be announced.

The awards are the only ones dedicated solely to Canadian whiskies and the ceremony is held annually in conjunction with the Victoria Whisky Festival.

Going forward, the celebration will be held annually during the third week of January.

According to research from CGA by NIQ, spirits sales in bars and restaurants grew by 4.6% in value in Canada in the 52 weeks to early September.

Canadian whisky imports to the US have been under discussion since president-elect Donald Trump said he would issue an executive order to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% tariff on all imported products.

Last year, Diageo paused the construction of its CA$245 million (US$175.4m) distillery for Canadian whisky Crown Royal.
