SB Advent: Absolut Vodka
With one week to go until Christmas Eve, there’s still time to stuff your stockings with Absolut Premium Vodka, known for its versatility and advocacy.
Got a pal who loves modern art but you don’t quite have the funds to gift them an original (or even a print) this festive season? We have the answer.
‘Born to be different,’ Absolut Vodka is made with Swedish water and winter wheat, distilled in continuous stills, and presented in an apothecary-inspired bottle. The brand first launched in New York in 1979 and has since become a ‘modern icon’ that even caught the attention of American artist Andy Warhol.
This year, in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Absolut launched a 2024 limited edition bottle – Absolut Warhol – inspired by the rediscovery of Warhol’s Absolut ‘blue’ painting. The launch came 40 years after the brand first collaborated with the American artist and is the latest innovation as part of the vodka brand’s Born to Mix platform.
Available in 700ml and one-litre bottles, the 2024 limited edition Absolut Warhol is definitely the next best thing to a pop-art print of some soup cans. Actually, we’d say it’s even better.
Known for its versatility, Absolut is described as ‘rich, full-bodied and complex, yet smooth with a hint of dried fruits’ and works well in cocktails such as Espresso Martini and Cosmopolitan. In addition to its classic premium vodka and limited editions, the brand’s range includes single estate Elyx and multiple flavoured expressions, including a new honey-flavour Hunni.
At The Spirits Business Vodka Masters 2024, Absolut was recognised with a Gold medal for the second year in a row, and in October, the brand partnered with Universal Studios to celebrate the release of Wicked.
This year, Absolut also introduced numerous social advocacy initiatives, including the ‘Call it a Night’ campaign to promote responsible drinking and the ‘United We Dance’ campaign at Tomorrowland to address loneliness and mental health.
