Glenfiddich celebrates Lunar New Year
Scotch whisky brand Glenfiddich has collaborated with contemporary ink artist Zhang Yu on limited edition releases for Lunar New Year 2025.
The limited edition design by Yu features an imagined encounter between the Glenfiddich stag and a mythical nine-coloured deer king, which the brand said is ‘imbued with wisdom, compassion, and a profound desire for harmony’.
Yu’s work is closely tied to ancient Chinese tales. She is recognised as ‘one of the most outstanding ink wash masters’ in art, specialising in blending cultural elements from East and West through various creative forms, including painting, drawing, design, and film.
Glenfiddich debuted in the Chinese market 17 years ago, and the limited releases are part of the brand’s ‘Great Encounters’ initiative.
The design is featured on the Glenfiddich 21-year-old Gran Reserva box and two global travel retail (GTR) exclusive expressions from the distillery’s Perpetual range, the 15-year-old Vat 03 and 18-year-old Vat 04.
The 15- and 18-year-old gift sets are completed with a whisky glass.
Claudia Falcone, global brand managing director at Glenfiddich, said: “The Lunar New Year embodies togetherness and harmony. For the 2025 festive season, we aspire to celebrate the exquisite convergence of diverse traditions. A Gift for Great Encounters is a universal offering that delights in the beauty of this remarkable fusion.”
The GTR exclusive releases will be showcased through activations from January until the end of February 2025 at key airports in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Incheon, and Melbourne.
Last month, Glenfiddich partnered with the Aston Martin Formula One team and revealed a 65-year-old whisky to commemorate the occasion.
Glenfiddich is owned by William Grant & Sons, which saw revenue and profits after tax increase by double digits last year.
