Ad Gefrin unveils Corengyst blend
English distillery Ad Gefrin has revealed its latest blended whisky, exclusively available to its Corengyst annual members.
Described as a celebration of heritage and hospitality, the new blend will be available from 28 November to annual Corengyst pass holders of the Ad Gefrin Anglo-Saxon Museum and whisky distillery.
The Corengyst Blend brings together malt and grain whiskies from Scotland, Ireland, England, and Scandinavia.
Each component has been matured in a combination of Bourbon, oloroso Sherry, and virgin oak casks before being blended by Ad Gefrin Distillery in Northumberland.
The resulting whisky is said to embody the spirit of Northumbrian hospitality enjoyed by guests who once gathered at the Royal Palace of Gefrin 1,400 years ago.
The whisky displays aromas of clover, coconut, vanilla, dried fruit and cinnamon on the nose, followed by notes of vanilla fudge, buttery resin, treacle and ripe fruit on the palate.
Priced at £45 (US$56) and bottled at 43.9% ABV, Batch 01 of the whisky will be available for members to purchase in person at Ad Gefrin and later online.
Corengyst membership
The Corengyst annual membership, priced at £40 (US$50), offers access to the Ad Gefrin museum and distillery tours, special member-only releases like the Corengyst Blend, and a 10% discount on in-person and online purchases.
In celebration of the festive season, Corengyst gift vouchers are now available to purchase in person and online.
For whisky enthusiasts, Ad Gefrin is offering the opportunity for a bottle of Corengyst Blend to be purchased alongside a new membership voucher.
To celebrate the launch of the Corengyst Blend, Ad Gefrin is hosting a members-only tasting event at the distillery on Thursday 28 November from 5pm-9pm.
The evening will offer members and their guests festive cheer, including live music, a Yule-themed shopping event, and seasonal treats from local producers. The event is complimentary for members and one guest, and new members will gain immediate access to purchase the exclusive new blend.
Ben Murphy, director of Ad Gefrin Distillery, said: “As we approach our second anniversary, Corengyst Blend is a heartfelt thank you to our members. It is a celebration of the enduring legacy of Northumbrian hospitality, a spirit that has welcomed and united people for centuries. We are honoured to share this special release with those who have joined us on our journey.”
Ad Gefrin Distillery released its inaugural Scottish and Irish blend, Tácnbora, in October 2022.
Earlier this year, the England’s northernmost distillery introduced three new cask purchase options, featuring some of its first single malts.
