Lark Distilling launches its first blended malt whisky
Australian producer Lark Distilling has released its first blended malt whisky, called Symphony No.1.
Symphony No.1 is a “creamy and oily” blended malt whisky
Described as “creamy and oily”, Symphony No.1 is a blend of single malt whiskies from the Lark Distillery in Tasmania.
Lark Distilling’s head of marketing, Demetrius Giouzelis, said: “Symphony No.1 was born from a desire to create something approachable and accessible: a malt whisky that has character, but is easy to drink on any occasion.”
On the nose, the expression is “punchy and fruity” with notes of fresh mango, toasted pineapple, orange, vanilla and tangerines. The palate offers hints of peach and apricot, followed by sweet Tasmanian apples dipped in toffee.
Bill Lark, founder of Lark Distilling, said: “It’s instantly creamy and oily with so many complementary flavours; a lovely collaboration of notes that are really tempting. How exciting to think that we can put together a whisky like this that’s so full of life: big, bold, creamy and delicious.”
Head distiller and blender, Chris Thomson, recommends drinking the whisky neat, with ice or as the base for a Highball or Old Fashioned.
Bottled at 40.2% ABV, Symphony No.1 is available to buy from Lark Distilling’s website and Dan Murphy’s stores across Australia. It is priced at AU$139 (US$100) per 500ml bottle.
Established in 1992 by Bill Lark, Lark Distilling is described as the first and oldest distillery in Australia. The site produces a range of whiskies and limited edition bottlings, along with Forty Spotted Gin, Quiet Cannon Rum and XO Brandy.
