Hackstons opens retail shop in London
By Miona MadsenCask whisky ownership specialist Hackstons is opening its first retail experience in Knightsbridge, in London’s West End.
Located at 3-4 William Street and opening in early September, Hackstons will be open to individuals, clients and aspiring collectors to explore, learn and sample spirits.
Recognising its clients’ appreciation for fine and rare collectables, the new development marks an evolution in the company’s approach to ownership. It provides individuals with the opportunity to purchase fine and rare bottles in both online and physical retail spaces.
The Knightsbridge flagship store is designed to provide clients with a bespoke service with any purchase. The addition to Hackstons’ portfolio offers services from ownership, onward selling, bottling, sale and purchase under one roof.
Guests will be welcomed into the primary whisky room, which will showcase an extensive selection of ‘the finest whiskies available on the market’, alongside a selection of spirits, vintage wines, and a tasting library.
William Street will also offer bespoke consultations and private tasting experiences for people from across the globe.
Alphie Valentine, co-founder and director of Hackstons, said: “The opening of our first retail experience marks an incredibly important milestone for us. Hackstons will act as both an ultra-premium retail space and the place to be, hosting private tastings, supper clubs, and events that enable our clients to step into a world of unparalleled elegance and sophistication.
“Furthermore, empirical evidence supports the notion that retail and ownership operate symbiotically, in that one taste from our bottle offerings in store can spark a love affair with the ‘water of life’. From collecting bottles to understanding their appreciation, intrigue can lead to the expansion of client portfolios through purchasing, collecting or bottling a cask.”
The store’s lower level contains vaults housing a collection of casks and a custom brass still. For the first time in the heart of the city, invited clients will have the opportunity to learn about the whisky distillation process first hand.
In other news from London-based spirits retailers, wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros & Rudd opened its first shop dedicated entirely to spirits and independent whisky specialist Milroy’s closed its doors for refurbishments earlier this year.
