Mikolasch vodka celebrates early international growth
By Melita KielyOrigen X has secured several international distribution deals for its portfolio, including five UK listings for Mikolasch vodka.

Ukrainian vodka Mikolasch launched in June 2024. Within five weeks of its launch, the vodka brand secured listings with five UK retailers, including The Whiskey Exchange and Master of Malt. On the latter site, the vodka was the best-selling spirit for the online seller during its first week.
The vodka brand is also available in on-trade establishments such as Gong bar at Shangri-La, the Treehouse Hotel, Bardo St James, and Scales bar in Mayfair.
Origen X has also found listings for Kinahan’s Whiskey at Hedonism Wines, Dram, the Century Club, Nine Lives and Blackrock Brighton.
The company is expanding its international footprint, too. Listings overseas include Greece, where on-trade brand developer and distributor Sky Spirits is looking after Mikolasch.
In Turkey, brand developer Maddox plans to help Mikolasch take its share of the premium vodka space, and will also help to grow Kinahan’s and Bagots Irish whiskeys.
In Poland, Spirits Choice (part of Winkolekcja Wine & Spirits Group), a wine and spirits on-trade operator in the country, has doubled sales for Kinahan’s Irish whiskey since 2023. The firm plans to make Mikolasch the number-one premium Ukrainian vodka in Poland.
Bulgaria has also been a key market for Origen X. Importer Selected Brands is on board to grow Origen X’s Irish whiskey portfolio in the country.
Meanwhile, in Italy, Fine Spirits, part of Velier Group, will formally launch Mikolasch in the market in October 2024. Its strategy includes positioning the brand as a premium pouring vodka in Milan and Rome.
Zak Oganian, CEO at Origen X, said: “Despite our formidable progress in global markets in the past 12 months, selecting distribution partners is more challenging than for brands looking to sell in a five-six year time frame, for example.
“The question we have to keep asking ourselves is whether we see ourselves in this partnership in 15-20 years time. Much like getting married, the general rule of thumb is – don’t dine with someone you wouldn’t want to starve with.”
