Grasmere launches distillery tours
English spirits producer Grasmere Distillery, which opened in 2021, is now offering distillery tours.
The distillery, located in the Lake District in England, is also home to Grasmere Brewery. The distillery released its first vodka in 2022 and then began distilling gin from scratch.
Grasmere Distillery describes itself as a grain-to-glass producer.
Paul Abbott, distillery founder, commented: “We’re really excited to be able to show visitors a little of what we do day to day.
“We are a 100% grain-to-glass, family-owned distillery in the heart of the Lake District and powered 100% by renewable energy.
“I do all the tours myself and always will. It’s a great opportunity for me to share our future plans, especially as we develop and refine our Grasmere whisky, which we are laying down now in casks for maturation.”
The distillery’s portfolio includes Grasmere Sugar Beet Vodka and Grasmere Dry Gin.
The 60-minute tour will start at The Good Sport at the brewery and the distillery Tap Room, beginning with a gin and vodka tasting.
Guests will then be guided to the distillery where they will see some of the brewing, distilling and bottling processes, learning from Abbott’s experience about everything that comes with creating a grain-to-glass spirit from scratch.
Tours will run throughout the year, beginning at 2pm daily. Priced at £25 per person, tours must be booked in advance via the Grasmere website for groups of two to 10 people; there is also availability for groups bigger than 10 people by contacting the distillery.
Grasmere Distillery is also planning to branch out into whisky. The producer aims to launch a ‘founders’ club’, then add English single malt whiskies to its portfolio.
This year, the distillery intends to increase its output by filling around 50 casks of new-make spirit, and will produce approximately 12,000 bottles of gin.
