Desi Daru reveals venue for Culture Colliders final
British-Indian vodka Desi Daru has announced Samba Room as the venue for its inaugural Culture Colliders cocktail competition final.
The inaugural Desi Daru Culture Colliders Cocktail Competition will be held at Sushisamba’s new cocktail bar and lounge, Samba Room, on the 39th floor of London’s Heron Tower.
The final will be held on Monday 22 July in the ‘unforgettable’ South America-inspired cocktail destination, designed by Fabled Studio.
“At Sushisamba, we celebrate the culture and cuisine of multiple countries,” said Ekrem Muarem, head of bars at Sushisamba. “Hosting a cocktail competition like Desi Daru’s Culture Colliders, that celebrates the best of India and Britain, was a no-brainer for us.
“We are so proud of Samba Room, our new cocktail bar and lounge, and we think it will provide the perfect backdrop to showcase some of the best, most innovative bartending in the industry. We can’t wait to see what the finalists will be presenting.”
Bartenders from across the UK were invited to showcase their creativity and skill by crafting unique cocktails that capture the essence of these two rich culinary traditions.
Each entry was required to include a minimum of 40ml of Desi Daru Alphonso Mango Vodka, one Indian-inspired ingredient and one British-inspired ingredient.
“As this is our first cocktail competition for Desi Daru, we wanted the stage for our finals to be spectacular and walking into Samba Room for the first time – we knew that we’d found the perfect spot,”said Mohit Singh, founder of Desi Daru. “This brand new bar from Sushisamba is unbelievably striking and matches the level of mixology that we’re excited to see from our finalists. We cannot wait for the finals and to see who is crowned Desi Daru Culture Collider 2024 winner.”
The final will be judged by an expert panel, who will determine the winner who will receive a £2,000 (US$2530) cash prize, a trip to the distillery, a Michelin-starred meal for two and the Culture Colliders trophy.
Earlier in month, Desi Daru teamed up with UK distributor Nightcap Brands to enhance the brand’s presence in the on-trade.
