Golden Moon Distillery closes down
Colorado’s Golden Moon Distillery has ceased operations after it was unable to find a suitable buyer for the business.
At the end of 2023, the owner of Golden Moon Distillery, Stephen Gould, revealed he was seeking a buyer for part or all of his business. The company was put up for sale after being “negatively affected” by challenges in the past few years, including the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and political issues.
Gould said these issues impacted the company’s “ability to raise the funds necessary to continue to pursue our business plan in the current economic environment”.
Golden Moon has now run out of funds after a potential buyer it had found was unable to provide investment.
He said: “This is all very sad. Until a few weeks ago we thought we had a buyer/investor that would have allowed the company to continue to grow and prosper, but they unfortunately were unable to deliver the investment and resources they promised. As such, the company is now out of cash and time and we have no alternative.
“We will keep Golden Moon Speakeasy operating in the near term, as we look at ways to keep that part of the business intact, likely with new ownership. That is assuming the bank allows us to do so.
“We appreciate all the support we’ve received over the years.”
Founded in 2008, Golden Moon Distillery produces the Golden Moon brand, Redux Absinthe, American whiskey Gun Fighter, and the Olde Blackhawk Spirits brand.
Live Oak Bank will liquidate the company’s assets in the near future.
