Shanky’s Whip expands in Asia

Biggar & Leith-owned Shanky’s Whip has strengthened its presence in Asia after gaining distribution deals in South Korea and Japan.

Distributor Three Arrows will oversee Shanky’s Whip’s entry in Japan, while Upic will cover its distribution in South Korea.

Both distributors are tasked with bringing Shanky’s Whip to hospitality venues, retailers and e-commerce channels.

The brand’s launch in the two markets will be supported through activations and tastings – with a focus on its gift pack offering – and it will also make appearances at various trade and consumer shows throughout the year, including Whisky Festival in Japan and the Seoul Bar & Spirit Show in South Korea.

Shanky’s Whip founder Elwyn Gladstone said: “Shanky’s Whip has major global appeal, which is testament to its striking brand proposition and incredible taste.

“We’re in a period of significant investment for the brand and will be supporting the move into Japan and South Korea with a series of activations that make us stand out from the crowd.

“We’ve worked to secure the best partners in the market to distribute and carve out Shanky’s Whip’s name and are confident the brand will continue to fly in the APAC region and beyond.”

The Irish whiskey liqueur’s Asia footprint already includes China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and India.

It is available in more than 80 markets.

Earlier this year the brand launched its first TV advertising campaign, which encouraged views to ‘give it a try’.
