Next Century Spirits (NCS) has acquired a stable of brands from Southwest Spirits & Wine, located in Dallas, Texas. The acquisition includes Nue Vodka, The Other 49 Bourbon, Sixty Men Bourbon, George Ocean Rum, Calamity Gin, and Henderson Whiskey.

“Our ambition is to become a trusted, long-term spirits partner with a diverse portfolio and the recent acquisition of SSW brand assets allows us to diversify our business and accelerate our timeline,” Anthony Moniello, co-CEO of Next Century Spirits, said.

Nue Vodka has an approximate annual volume of 220,000 nine-litre cases across 29 states. In 2023, it was the fastest-growing vodka brand among mid-tier options (US$20-$22), according to Nielsen. It is also the official premium vodka of the 2023 World Series champion Texas Rangers, a professional baseball team.

The newly acquired brands join a portfolio that includes Bear Fight American Single Malt Whiskey, Numbskull Cool Mint & Chocolate Flavoured Whiskey, Creek Water American Whiskey, and ready-to-drink (RTD) brand Caddy Cocktails.

“These are exciting times for Next Century Spirits as we continue our journey to build the next multinational spirits company,” executive chairman Matthew Bronfman said. “A truly momentous day for our team.”

Next Century Spirits was founded in 2018. It uses patented filtering and finishing technology in the creation and processing of distilled spirits for private label, bulk and NCS-owned brands.

“We’re excited to expand the Next Century Spirits portfolio to meet the demands of consumers,” co-CEO Rob Mason added. “Southwest Spirits portfolio is a fantastic collection of young brands that fits key consumer trends and gets us into the vodka, gin, and Bourbon categories in a big way.”

The acquisition is for the above brands specifically and not the purchase of Southwest Spirits & Wine. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Earlier this year, Next Century Spirits purchased a minority stake in RTD brand Vide.
