Connaught Bar unveils first cocktail book
London’s award-winning Connaught Bar will release its inaugural book next month, which details 100 of its signature cocktails.
The bar, located within five-star hotel The Connaught in Mayfair, is widely-recognised as one of the world’s best bars and was nominated as such most recently at the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation’s 17th annual Spirited Awards.
Named The Connaught Bar: Recipes and Iconic Creations, the book will be available to purchase globally for £29.95 (US$38) from The Connaught Shop, from 10 April 2024.
For the last 15 years, The Connaught Bar has been led by Agostino Perrone, who co-created the book with the bar’s assistant director of mixology, Georgio Bargiani (who also won International Bartender of the Year at Tales of the Cocktail 2023), Maura Millia (The Connaught’s former bar manager) and Anistatia Miller, a drinks historian.
Perrone said: “The Connaught Bar book not only encapsulates 15 years of work but also a life experience. It’s a collection of emotions, stories, and connections with our guests. Cocktails have always been our own way to express creativity, discovery, and the ultimate sense of hospitality that we share here at The Connaught.
“This book celebrates a legacy that we continue to share with existing and future guests, inviting them to join our journey.”
The book allows readers to recreate the bar’s drinks from home, including its famed Martini, Champagne cocktail Fleurissimo, the Jackson Pollock-inspired Number 11, the Ristretto Manhattan and 12 non-alcoholic cocktails, among others.
Beyond the cocktails, the book also gives readers access to recipes for homemade syrups, infused spirits and garnishes that the team use for their creations, plus guidance on bar tools, glassware and spirits.
Perrone has also written a narrative for each cocktail, explaining his thought process behind the recipe’s inspiration and ingredients.
Bargiani added: “Recipes become statements when they find their place in a book. And this book is an important statement for The Connaught Bar and our team.
“Through the lines of these 100 recipes there is the building and evolution of a mixology style that has progressed over the years, always remaining true to the distinctive hospitality ethos of The Connaught.”
