Islands8 gin seeks European distribution
By Lauren BowesMaltese gin brand Islands8 is searching for distributors in Europe as part of its expansion plans.
Its flagship product won Gold at The Gin Masters 2023, with judges praising it for being “nicely rounded on the palate with a very smooth finish” and “immensely sippable”.
The gin was created by siblings George and Annabel Xuereb, featuring eight botanicals that grow wildly in Malta: marjoram, thyme, rosemary, sage, dill, aniseed, fennel and mint.
A 700ml bottle retails for €25.50 (US$28). The brand suggests serving it with a classic tonic and a slice of citrus.
The Xuerebs hope that their brand will put Malta ‘on the map and showcase the beauty of the islands’ – a goal that will be furthered through distribution partnerships.
“With every sip of Islands8 Gin, you’re not just sipping a drink,” explained George. “You’re taking a journey into the heart of Malta, experiencing a story of adventure and receiving an invitation to savour something truly special. It’s more than a spirit – it’s a piece of Malta in your glass.”
The gin is currently available online, in Malta stores and in duty free at Malta International Airport, but Islands8 hopes to make inroads into Europe this year.
