Hermit Gin lands in Portugal
Amsterdam-based Hermit Dutch Coastal Gin has partnered with Portuguese wholesale company Aviworld.
Aviworld is based in the Algarve region and has a strong network of hospitality businesses.
Hermit Gin has also announced Rafael Silva as a brand ambassador. He will work to establish the brand throughout Portugal, with a particular focus on the Algarve first, with Lisbon and Porto to follow.
“We are delighted to join forces with Aviworld, a respected name in the spirits wholesale industry in Portugal,” says Siward de Groot, managing director at Hermit Gin.
“Rafael Silva’s outstanding mixology skills and industry recognition make him the perfect local brand ambassador to elevate Hermit Dutch Coastal Gin in Portugal.
“This partnership represents a strategic move for us and reinforces our commitment to delivering an exceptional gin experience to a broader audience.”
Silva was a finalist in both the Martini Grand Prix 2016 in Portugal and Bacardí Legacy 2018.
“Since Hermit Gin uses purified seawater and we, in Portugal, have a beautiful coastline that is highly sought after by the national and international markets, these are points in its favour,’’ said Silva.
“The quality of the product is undoubtedly what sets it apart. When we talk about quality, we mean delicacy in the use and selection of products. It’s clear that the master distillers take this into account. All the botanicals used in the infusion are meticulously and carefully selected by them.
“Being a brand ambassador means believing strongly in the product you’re promoting. And I believe in Hermit for all the reasons mentioned above.”
In December last year, Hermit Gin entered Japan’s on-trade.
Dutch entrepreneurs and brothers Noah Duijst and Siward de Groot acquired the brand in 2022.
