Bushmills releases fourth Causeway Collection
Proximo Spirits-owned Bushmills has revealed the fourth series of its Causeway Collection, featuring nine single malts.
Curated by Bushmills’ master blender Alex Thomas, all nine of the Irish whiskeys are non-chill filtered. They have been matured in oloroso Sherry butts and Bourbon barrels before being finished in diverse casks, including American oak, Sauternes and Cognac.
The expressions range in age from 10 to 23 years old.
The collection this year has a new bottle and pack design.
“I have a passion for unusual wood and reimagining a traditional single malt, which makes this collection a particularly exciting one to share,” said Thomas.
“I’m obsessed with uncovering the untold secrets and character of these casks. This series is the perfect marriage of Bushmills’ timeless experience with fresh thinking and innovation.
“These sensational whiskeys deliver bold, untold waves of flavours that pay homage to the mythical heritage and natural landscape of Bushmills. We are delighted to share this very special collection with whiskey lovers all over the world.”
The 2023 Causeway Collection ranges in price from €100 (US$107) to €450 (US$482) and will be available in six markets.
Bushmills opened its £37 million (US$46m) ‘state-of-the-art’ Causeway Distillery in April this year, which more than doubled its production capacity. The new facility was part of Proximo’s £60m (US$74.6m) investment in Irish single malt distilling and maturation.
The brand broke the million-case sales mark for the first time in June.
Last year’s Causeway Collection featured the brand’s oldest whiskey to date.
