Luxco celebrates American whiskey greatness at BCB
Luxco is a powerhouse in the American whiskey scene. We spoke to Greg Mefford, the company’s international sales director, at Bar Convent Berlin to learn about Luxco’s historical whiskey ties, latest releases and agave spirits ambitions.
Spirits producer Luxco is a subsidiary of MGP Ingredients, which bought the company in 2021 for US$475 million.
Founded in 1958, Luxco produces American whiskey brands such as Ezra Brooks, Rebel Yell, Davies County and Yellowstone, as well as El Mayor Tequila, Everclear grain spirit, and a range of liqueurs.
Luxco opened Lux Row Distillers at the start of 2018 following a US$35m investment. The site in Bardstown, Kentucky, is home to Luxco’s Bourbon business. The firm also operates a Tequila distillery located outside the city of Arandas in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico.
The company has been active throughout 2023, releasing a number of new expressions to entice American whiskey fans. In February this year, Luxco introduced its first American single malt whiskey under the Yellowstone brand. Soon after in August, the producer added a bottled-in-bond expression to its Rossville rye whiskey range.
At Bar Convent Berlin (BCB) 2023, Mefford and his team were on hand to showcase some of the company’s finest bottlings from across its portfolio, many of which are highlighted in the video above.
