Earl Grey Forest Gin launches in Canada

Family-owned The Forest Distillery will now sell its Earl Grey gin in Canada through a distribution deal with BC Liquor Stores.

Founded by husband-and-wife team Karl and Lindsay Bond in 2015, The Forest Distillery is based in Cheshire, England, and claims to be the UK’s highest altitude distillery.

Earl Grey Forest Gin is distilled in the same way as the brand’s first release, Forest Gin, using combinations of organic and wild foraged botanicals – such as bilberry, wild raspberry, gorse flower, pine and moss – and spring water from the distillery’s site.

The gin is then infused with premium Oolong tea, bergamot and cornflowers. It is packaged in a locally made ceramic bottle featuring a papercut design by artist Suzy Taylor.

Lindsay Bond said: “We’re not huge fans of coloured and flavoured gins, but appreciate that lots of people do. Therefore, this seemed like a simple, natural way of creating a different product without resorting to additives. We are so proud to add Canada to the growing number of countries that we export it to.”

The Forest Distillery now exports its products to Japan, Hong Kong, Canada, New Zealand, Canada and Germany.

The gin will be available to purchase from 18 November in 50 participating BC Liquor Stores in British Columbia. BC Liquor is government-owned and operated and has 198 locations in the province.

John McLaughlin, representing BC Liquor, added: “We are excited to launch the Earl Grey Gin through BC Liquor Stores this fall. This will add to the success of the buys on Forest Gin and Forest Whisky last year as consumers continue to look for family-run, authentic premium spirits.”

The Forest Distillery launched its first single malt whisky in 2022, with the first batch selling out in minutes.
