Desi Daru gains Harvey Nichols listing
By Rupert HohwielerVodka brand Desi Daru has made inroads in its UK expansion and will now be sold at luxury retailer Harvey Nichols.
The British-Indian brand is known for fusing ingredients from the two countries together in its vodka – with ingredients sourced from Maharashtra, India and the English countryside.
It aims to embody a ‘meeting of two worlds, a marriage between East and West – a combination of the spiritual and the spirited, for a spirit like no other’.
Mohit Singh, co-founder of Desi Daru, spoke of his excitement for the listing, saying: “We are incredibly excited to partner with Harvey Nichols and offer our award-winning vodka range to their discerning customer base.
“We believe our premium spirits will resonate with those who appreciate quality and innovation.”
Desi Daru has two flavours in its portfolio: Mango and Original. The Original is crafted from English winter wheat and distilled seven times.
Its Mango variant recently won five Masters medals and was named Taste Master at the annual Vodka Masters, the latter being the highest honour a spirit can win at the competition.
Both can be purchased at Harvey Nichols, either in store or online for £45 (US$54.76) per 700ml bottle.
Bryan Rodriguez-Curtis, junior spirits buyer at Harvey Nichols, added: “Desi Daru is an exciting new vodka brand that has emerged recently, with incredible flavours such as mango, which is a real triumph for the flavoured vodka category, as well as a quality dry vodka, which is a great example of how a classic vodka should be done.
“I look forward to continuing to work with Desi Daru and seeing them grow as vodka category leaders,’ he concluded.
